SUSTAINABILITY POLICIES

Biyoçeşitliliğin Korunması Politikası

The purpose of this guideline is to contribute to the protection of the natural environment on and around the property of Turunç Resort Otel, to support biodiversity, and to maintain the balance of the ecosystem in a sustainable manner. This policy covers all activities carried out in the natural habitats on the hotel site and in its immediate surroundings.

1. Protection of Local Plant Species

  • In the hotel garden and its surroundings, native (endemic) plant species suited to the Marmaris-Turunç region are preferred.
  • The plants are introduced to guests by means of information boards with QR codes, thereby raising environmental awareness.
  • The plant inventory is updated at least once a year and recorded by the relevant units.

2. Nature-Friendly Garden Practices

  • The use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is minimized; organic and natural protection methods are applied as a priority.
  • The irrigation systems are optimized using the water-saving drip method and are operated during the coolest hours of the day.

3. Lighting Policy

  • For night-time lighting, downward-directed fixtures are used in order to prevent light pollution.
  • Amber-coloured, low-lumen lighting is preferred so as not to disrupt the natural cycle of the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) and other nocturnal creatures.

4. Wildlife Protection Activities

  • Safe habitats are protected for the birds, squirrels, and other wild animals observed on the hotel grounds.
  • Staff and guests are informed not to feed wildlife and not to interfere with the natural cycle.

5. Intervention in Nature and Compensation Process

  • Prior to any construction or maintenance work, an "Environmental Impact Assessment" is carried out by professional teams.
  • If potential adverse effects are identified, compensation measures such as tree planting, habitat restoration, and the like are initiated without delay.

6. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • All biodiversity practices are reported on a monthly basis by the "Sustainability Committee".
  • Through evaluations carried out at the end of each year, the positive effects on biodiversity are measured and new targets are set.
